The 59-year-old woman killed in Kensington on Friday afternoon, June 28 was Gladys Rivera-Perez, city police said.

Rivera-Perez was sitting on her porch when an argument broke out between "teenage females" on the 3400 block of Tampa Street, investigators believe. A man in a white car pulled up and got out brandishing a firearm, according to PPD.

The suspect shot at a group of fleeing people, chased them, and then fired another shot on the 600 block of E. Ontario Street, police continued.

Authorities believe he fired two shots into Rivera-Perez's Crytal Street home as she went inside.

The suspect's vehicle was later tracked down to a home on the 1300 block of Saint Vincent Street. A barricade was declared but the scene was cleared when police learned the 39-year-old suspect was not there.

The owner of the vehicle was taken in for questioning and released pending further investigation, detectives said.

On Saturday night, June 29, a 23-year-old man was killed on North 52nd Street, police continued. The victim, identified as William Shirley, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, PPD said.

Investigators believe Shirley was "specifically targeted." A masked man with a rifle pulled up in a dark SUV, shot Shirley at "close range," and then fled in the vehicle, detectives said.

No motive is known and no arrest has been made, authorities said.

Then on Sunday morning, June 30, another victim was found with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police.

Forty-three-year-old Calton Brown was discovered on the 1400 block of Kerper Street and pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Department medics, they wrote in a release.

No arrests were made as of Monday, July 1.
